How do you mail your art? I mailed a 24 "x 36" Oil painting and it cost $ 70 new serie mailed.?
It Was Insured for $ 200 Which Now Seems very low if it Costs $ 70. to mail.
The "Best" Way I Typically wears Is To Give It to a frame shop Who Specializes in fine art (not family photos or posters) and Have Them package the painting and insurance. They Will take care Better Than "Mailboxes etc.". or whatever. The least expensive way I find Is To ship it yourself. Take the painting off of the stretch, roll it up very carefully, and ship it in a tube. Do the Sami with the tell-assembled streches bars. Give good instructions to whomever you are shipping the painting to on how to assemble the painting. Finally, if It Is a buyer, or someone Who does not want to go-through the trouble of re-assembling the painting, just go to the library and pick up a book, or video on how to ship (Boxing and packing) a painting. I Watched WAY too many of Those in college, yet They Were informative. Heck, $ 70 Is Not That Much For a 24×36. My guys charge $ 150 retail For That Size. — Ricky H.
